German tennis player Alexander Zverev will rise to the top of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) rankings for the first time in his career and is guaranteed to hold the position until the end of 2026, according to infohub.kz.

Zverev's debut as the men's singles world No. 1 became possible after the current ATP leader, Italy's Jannik Sinner, ended his season early due to injury. The German could overtake Sinner as early as November 2, after which he will retain the top spot until the end of the year.

The German had never previously held the world No. 1 ranking. He will become the 30th player in history to achieve the feat.

"For me, this has been a fantastic season with victories in Paris and New York. Realizing that I will finish the year at the top of the rankings is simply a dream come true. So much work and effort went into achieving this goal, especially after recovering from an ankle injury. I look forward to finishing the season in style," Zverev said.

This season, the German won Grand Slam titles for the first time — the clay-court French Open and the hard-court US Open. At Wimbledon on grass, he reached the final, where he lost to Sinner.
