Kazakh weightlifter Alexey Churkin, a silver medalist at the senior World Championships, has been awarded a three-room apartment, according to infohub.kz.
A ceremony was held in Astana to honor the Honored Master of Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan and world vice-champion. For his outstanding athletic achievements, Churkin received a three-room apartment as a gift from the Weightlifting Federation of Kazakhstan together with the Kostanay Regional Weightlifting Federation.
In his acceptance speech, Churkin specifically highlighted the comprehensive support from Gaji Gadjiev, president of the Kazakhstan Weightlifting Federation, which helped resolve his housing issue. He also expressed gratitude to Mahmud Tursunov, president of the Kostanay Regional Weightlifting Federation, for constant assistance and attention. According to Churkin, such recognition and high regard for athletes give him additional motivation for future victories and serve as a vivid example for the younger generation of sportsmen. He stressed that the key is to work hard, pursue one's dreams, achieve high results, and proudly raise Kazakhstan's flag on the international stage.
The ceremony was also attended by athletes from Kazakhstan's national and youth teams. They warmly congratulated their colleague and noted that this kind of support from the Federation builds confidence, allows them to fully focus on training, and work with even greater dedication toward new achievements.
Such initiatives by the Weightlifting Federation underscore the importance of state and public support for athletes who bring glory to Kazakhstan at international competitions. In December 2024, Churkin won a silver medal at the World Weightlifting Championships. Previously, world champion Artem Antropov received an apartment from the Republican Weightlifting Federation. A year ago, Antropov set three Kazakhstan records, and in 2024 he became the best on the platform in Manama.
