Six-year-old Alikhan from Almaty suffers from daily seizures. In early childhood, he contracted meningitis, which led to severe neurological complications requiring urgent treatment, reports infohub.kz.
Alikhan was born a healthy child, his mother says. At five months, the boy developed a high fever and seizures. He was urgently hospitalized, and doctors diagnosed meningitis. From that moment, Alikhan's condition deteriorated sharply.
"After meningitis, he developed severe neurological complications. To date, Alikhan has been diagnosed with symptomatic epilepsy, cerebral palsy, delayed psychomotor and speech development, hydrocephalus, and partial optic nerve atrophy. The child suffers from daily seizures that can occur several times a day. Despite ongoing treatment, full control over the seizures has not been achieved," said the boy's mother, Asylzada Ablaeva.
According to her, Alikhan is not developing according to his age and requires constant care and specialist supervision. "We are looking for an opportunity to undergo in-depth examination and receive effective treatment abroad, as treatment in Kazakhstan does not give stable results," Asylzada explained.
The family has opened a fundraiser for examination at a clinic in Istanbul, amounting to 8,535 euros — 4,640,600 tenge.
