The capacity of the Kazakh-Russian border in the Aktobe region will significantly increase after the modernization of the Alimbet checkpoint. It is expected that after the completion of the works, it will be able to pass at least 2,500 cars and buses per day instead of the current 700, reports the website infohub.kz.
The reconstruction is being carried out on an area of 10.5 hectares. The capacity for individuals is expected to grow from 1,500 to 3,000 people per day. The checkpoint will include an administrative building, a hangar for in-depth inspection, canopies, a garage for service vehicles, and bus parking. A kennel for 20 service dogs is also planned.
The main innovation will be an inspection and examination complex that will allow more efficient checking of vehicles and cargo, detecting hidden items without lengthy manual inspection.
Currently, 147 specialists and 39 units of equipment are working on the site. Alimbet is located in the Kargaly district opposite the Russian checkpoint Orsk and has been operating around the clock since 2003.
Ultimately, the modernization should reduce the time of control procedures and increase the capacity of one of the important road routes on the Kazakh-Russian border.
