The Almaty Department of Road Traffic Organization and Passenger Transport has announced a state procurement for 200 new-type bus shelters. According to Kursiv LifeStyle, these are pavilions designed by the company RTS Decaux, reports infohub.kz.
Similar structures have already been installed, in particular on Zheltoksan Street and Tole Bi Avenue. The pavilions feature two-sided benches with backrests, a rain canopy, and a separate interactive advertising screen.
Under the technical requirements, the shelters must be factory-made and withstand rain, direct sunlight, and temperatures from -45 °C to +50 °C. The structures must have a service life of at least 20 years. The contractor will have to produce 48 pavilions in 2026 and 152 in 2027.
The supplier will be determined on October 21. The procurement is marked as a repeat tender, meaning no contractor was found on the first attempt. The department is prepared to pay the manufacturer 897.5 million tenge for the 200 shelters. That puts the cost of a single structure at just over 4.5 million tenge.
The author of the material notes that it would be great if bus shelter designs across the city were uniform and functional.
Kursiv LifeStyle previously reported that residents criticized the design of a new bus stop on Utepov Street — it differs from the ones the transport department plans to purchase.
