Passengers in the waiting area of Terminal T1 at Almaty International Airport noticed a white liquid dripping from the ceiling onto the seats. Witnesses filmed the scene and posted the video on social media, sparking widespread reaction, infohub.kz reports.
The footage shows the liquid running down from the ceiling slab directly onto passenger seats in the waiting area. Angry travelers recorded the scene on their phones.
The airport's press service commented on the situation. It told a NUR.KZ correspondent that infrastructure modernization work is continuing at Terminal T1, including efforts to fix individual flaws identified during operation.
"During finishing work on the second floor of the terminal, a small amount of liquid briefly seeped through the inter-floor slab into the passenger waiting area," the press service said.
According to airport representatives, staff responded promptly to the situation and took all necessary measures to deal with the consequences.
"The situation has now been resolved, and the terminal is operating normally. Almaty International Airport apologizes to passengers for the temporary inconvenience," the press service added.
