The situation was commented on by the akimat of the Nauryzbai district. The cause was cited as a blockage in a storm drainage system transition.
"On Raiymbek Avenue, where part of the district's stormwater flows, difficulties arose due to a blockage in the storm drainage system transition. As a result, a significant accumulation of water formed. Previously, no such problems had been observed in this area.
Currently, utility services are working to clean the storm drainage system and restore its capacity. The situation is under control," the statement said.
Earlier it was reported that in Almaty, after rains, drivers faced difficulties traveling along one of the avenues — a section of the road had collapsed there.
