More than 50 artisans will gather in Almaty on October 31 and November 1 for an artisans' fair featuring representatives of the World Crafts Council (WCC). The event will showcase traditional applied arts as a branch of the modern creative industry, the website infohub.kz reports.
According to the Almaty city akimat, the Bakhshasarai venue at the Atakent Exhibition Center will display items made of felt, leather, wood, metal and ceramics, along with designer jewelry, traditional musical instruments and household objects. The program will include a sales exhibition, master classes, demonstrations of craft techniques and cultural performances.
The fair will bring together traditional crafts and modern creative approaches. Reinterpreting national motifs in design and original products opens new opportunities for developing applied arts, creating distinctive creative projects and preserving cultural heritage in contemporary formats.
The participation of World Crafts Council representatives will introduce the international professional community to Kazakhstan's craft traditions and broaden the exchange of experience. For local artisans, the event will serve as a platform to present their work, network professionally and learn about new approaches to developing craft art.
Visitors will be able to buy handmade items, watch them being made, learn more about traditional techniques and take part in master classes.
The fair will be held on October 31 and November 1 in Almaty at the Bakhshasarai venue of the Atakent Exhibition Center, 42 Timiryazev Street, Building 1. Admission is free.
