October 5 could bring deteriorated air quality to two major cities in Kazakhstan. Kazhydromet has issued a warning about unfavorable meteorological conditions in Almaty and Atyrau, according to infohub.kz.

Forecasters specified that unfavorable meteorological conditions (UMC) are expected in Almaty, and during the night in Atyrau.

Such conditions form when calm, light wind, fog, and temperature inversion combine. In such weather, pollutants accumulate in the surface layer of the atmosphere, potentially leading to deteriorated air quality.

During these periods, the risk of negative health effects increases, especially for people with chronic diseases. Pollution levels are also influenced by wind speed, precipitation, humidity, and air temperature.

Residents are advised to reduce time spent outdoors, especially near roads and other sources of pollution. Children and pregnant women are advised to avoid long walks.

People with respiratory and cardiovascular diseases, as well as those with allergies, are recommended to carry necessary medications. Outdoor physical activity should be limited and, if possible, moved indoors.

Earlier, Kursiv reported that unstable weather will persist in Kazakhstan on October 6. According to Kazhydromet forecasts, rain and snow will fall across most of the country, with heavy precipitation expected in the northeast and southeast. Frosts are forecast at night in five regions.
