An Almaty resident has voiced dissatisfaction with new architectural forms that have appeared on the sidewalk of Baiseitova Street, and the city akimat has explained the origin and purpose of these objects, infohub.kz reports.
The complaint was posted on a personal Threads account under the handle shelestyana_. The author of the post criticized the metal structures installed during repairs on Baiseitova Street.
"It used to be a wonderful pedestrian street with perfect paving stones! Why did you put up these incomprehensible structures?! To achieve what? Now it's not even comfortable for one person to walk! Who approves this?! It's just awful, this is on Baiseitova from Qabanbay Batyr downward.. You just took and welded together who knows what out of metal! Now it's unpleasant to walk! If you have extra money, take care of things that matter — the networks are 80% worn out, the power was cut off every other day in the summer! No, you have to shove these damn structures in the middle of the road!" the author of the post wrote.
The Almaty akimat responded to the resident's appeal. Officials explained that residents' concern over the current appearance of Baiseitova Street is understandable, but that only an intermediate stage of improvement work is underway there, which is why the structures still look unfinished.
The akimat also stressed an important point: the project to install the art objects is being carried out with sponsor funds, not from the city budget.
