A massive power outage in Almaty has led to problems with water supply. Pumping stations may temporarily stop due to the lack of electricity, warned the company 'Almaty Su'. Residents of the city are already reporting disruptions, especially noticeable on the upper floors of buildings, reports the website infohub.kz.
The company explained that pumping equipment directly depends on electricity supply. When the power goes out, the stations cannot operate normally, leading to a drop in pressure and temporary lack of water in some houses and neighborhoods. After power is restored, water supply resumes gradually.
A major failure occurred on August 14 at 14:38. In 'Alatau Zharyk Kompaniyasy' they reported that three 500 kV overhead power lines belonging to KEGOC were emergency disconnected. The anti-emergency automation was triggered, and the disconnected load amounted to 300 MW.
The outages affected the Bostandyk, Nauryzbai, Auezov, Alatau, and Zhetysu districts of Almaty, as well as several districts of the Almaty region, including Zhambyl, Balkhash, Esik, Karasai, Shelek, Raiymbek, Uygur, Ili, Kegen, and Talgar.
