A blogger from Almaty has been penalized for posting about his life with three wives, reports infohub.kz.

According to the Almaty Police Department, administrative proceedings were initiated against citizen Bauyrzhan Bakytzhanuly under Part 3-1 of Article 456-2 of the Administrative Code of Kazakhstan. The department described his content as promoting a lifestyle that contradicts Kazakh law and widely accepted moral and ethical values. The offense carries a fine of 20 monthly calculation indices (MCI).

"Social networks are a public information space. Distributing content that promotes behavior patterns conflicting with legal requirements and undermining respect for the family institution and generally accepted moral and ethical norms entails liability under the law," police warned.

According to police, after a preventive conversation, the blogger voluntarily removed the controversial posts. However, his Instagram page still contains posts about polygamy — only some were deleted.

Earlier reports covered what the blogger discussed and why his revelations sparked public outrage in Kazakhstan.
