A blogger in Almaty has been brought to administrative responsibility for distributing religious materials on social media, reports infohub.kz.
According to the city's Department of Religious Affairs, the violation was detected by its staff. The case involves the author of the Instagram account raimbek_zhanadil. On July 24, 2026, an administrative protocol was drawn up against him under subparagraph 3 of paragraph 1 of Article 490 of the Administrative Code of Kazakhstan.
During the proceedings, the man admitted his guilt. The case was reviewed in a summary procedure, after which the blogger was fined. The amount of the fine was not specified in the report.
Earlier, the account's author came under public scrutiny after posting a video about girls participating in a fashion show. The blogger criticized the participation of children in such events from a religious perspective. His statements drew mixed reactions from users.
The department reminded that Article 9 of the Law "On Religious Activities and Religious Associations" allows the distribution of religious literature and other materials of religious content only in certain places: religious buildings and structures, spiritual educational organizations, as well as in special stationary premises, the location of which is determined by local executive bodies. Violation of these requirements entails administrative liability.
Earlier, Kursiv reported that a blogger Bauyrzhan Bakytzhanuly was brought to administrative responsibility in Almaty for publishing materials about living with three women. Police said his content contradicted legislation and generally accepted moral and ethical values, after which the blogger removed some of the controversial posts.
