Azamat Kaldybekov, head of Almaty's Bostandyk district, has promised that the First President's Park will become the most beautiful in Central Asia after its reconstruction, reports the website infohub.kz.
The district head made the statement during an informal meeting with representatives of Almaty's media community. He spoke about the district's development and what the park, which was closed for reconstruction in spring 2026, will look like.
The meeting took place at the Samgau development and creativity center, which caters to children. According to the district head, the renovated park will become the best in the Central Asian region by the end of 2026.
"This will be a top park not only in Kazakhstan but across Central Asia. It will be open and accessible to all categories of children and residents. Various activities are planned. There will be seven themed gardens, large playgrounds, and a renovated fountain that has not worked for many years. There will be new trails and separate sports zones with workout areas. The southwestern part of the park was previously unused; people didn't even go there, and now it is being transformed," Kaldybekov told media representatives.
Earlier, the first images of the park's reconstruction were published. Meanwhile, Almaty residents and city guests can visit FLOW park, which opened on June 1. "As of today, it is the best park in the Bostandyk district, opened as part of businesses' social responsibility. Thank you to them," the district head said.
After the Presidential Park opens, journalists from "Kursiv" will explore the renovated First President's Park. The cost of the reconstruction, however, has not yet been disclosed.
It is worth noting that in 2025 and 2026, virtually all of Almaty's landmark parks and public spaces have opened in the Bostandyk district. These include a park on the site of the former presidential residence on Gandhi Street, the Geologists' Alley at the corner of Satpayev and Baitursynov streets, and the recently opened and transformed Republic Square. Renovated promenades along the Yesentai River have also been launched. The construction of the "Japanese Garden" on Bukhar Zhyrau Boulevard is also next, where, according to the district head, a theater was previously planned.
