A resident of Almaty reported an attack on public transport: according to her, an elderly man applied a chokehold after she asked him to move over. The incident occurred on bus No. 227, reports infohub.kz.
A user of the social network Threads under the nickname llyvdu said that in the evening, at about 6 p.m., she boarded the bus at the stop "Seifullina – Sholokhov" and took a seat in the back. After asking the man sitting next to her to move over, she unexpectedly received a "chokehold" without any warning. The girl managed to free herself by pushing the attacker with her legs and arms, and also thanks to the help of another passenger. She urged others to be careful and drew attention to the incident.
The police department of Almaty told a NUR.KZ correspondent that a check was conducted on this fact. Law enforcement officers identified the participants in the incident, and an administrative protocol was drawn up against the attacker. The court sentenced him to 10 days of administrative arrest.
The police reminded of the need to observe public behavior norms and treat others with respect. In case of conflict situations, citizens should refrain from illegal actions and seek help from the police.
