Police in Almaty have launched an investigation after a social media post reported possible unlawful actions against a child on bus No. 129. The incident occurred in the evening when a woman and her child boarded the bus. The boy sat next to an unfamiliar man, while the mother took a seat ahead. Another passenger filmed the events, reports infohub.kz.
According to the witness, at first she thought the man was the child's father. However, after a few minutes, she suspected something was wrong. "The man started playing with the child. I was touched, thinking he was the father. Then I noticed he was playing strangely: touching the child's buttocks, then genitals. I started shaking from shock. I approached the mother and asked if the child was sitting with his father. She replied: 'No,'" wrote the author of the post.
After the publication, "Kursiv" contacted the Almaty Police Department for comment. "Regarding the use of physical force against a minor, the Bostandyk District Police Department is conducting an investigation. The suspect has been detained and brought to the police. A legal assessment will certainly be made, and a procedural decision will be taken in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The circumstances of the incident are being established," the press service of the DP of Almaty reported. Other details of the case have not yet been disclosed by the police.
Earlier, "Kursiv" reported that in Astana, a 27-year-old man was detained after a woman filed a complaint about harassment in one of the city parks. According to police, he was brought to administrative responsibility for petty hooliganism, and the case materials were sent to court.
