Officials in Almaty have addressed whether the conversion of the CHP-2 plant to natural gas will be completed by the end of 2026 as originally planned, reports infohub.kz.

Nurlan Abduvali, head of the heat and gas supply department at the city's Energy and Water Supply Department, said at a briefing at the Regional Communications Service that work at CHP-2 is proceeding strictly on schedule. According to him, all necessary equipment has already been delivered to the site, and installation work is currently underway. The speaker emphasized that the launch of the new plant with the switch to gas is planned before the end of this year.

As for CHP-3, Abduvali noted that it is located in the Almaty region and falls under the jurisdiction of the regional akimat. He explained that this plant is not related to the heat supply of Almaty city.

It is worth recalling that in October 2020, plans were announced to convert all of Almaty's CHP plants to gas. It was also reported that the conversion of the city's CHP plants to gas should be completed by the end of 2026.
