A courier from Almaty prevented the transfer of $3,000 to scammers and was rewarded by the police. The Almaty Police Department recognized Nartay Yesimkhanov, who suspected something was wrong and reported the crime. This was reported by infohub.kz.

The incident occurred last week: a pensioner fell for phone scammers who convinced her to send her savings via courier for 'declaration.' The woman called a courier, but he noticed she was very nervous and evasive about the contents of the package. Nartay Yesimkhanov immediately called the police.

It turned out the package contained $3,000. Thanks to the timely report, all the money was returned to the owner. Almaty Police Chief Aydyn Kabduldinov presented the courier with a letter of thanks and a commemorative gift.

'When I saw her eyes, I realized she was very scared. I sincerely felt sorry for this elderly woman. At that moment, I remembered my mother and thought: what if she were in her place? So I immediately decided to call the police. I believe I did the right thing,' said Nartay Yesimkhanov.
