The famous Dandelion Fountain in Almaty is being prepared for reopening after several years of renovation — the construction fence around the site has already been dismantled, the website infohub.kz reports.

The fountain stands in a small square on Bogenbai Batyr Street, in front of the Zhurgenov Academy of Arts. Workers are now tidying up the grounds and planting flowers in the flowerbeds.

The site is being cleared of construction materials. The restored bronze figures are also being returned to their places.

The fountain's main structure has already been installed — the metal "dandelion" sits in the central basin.

Renovation of the Dandelion began in 2023. Along with it, the Akku and Tulip fountains, as well as the sites in front of the Mukhtar Auezov Theater and al-Farabi Kazakh National University, were closed for repairs. There is a strong likelihood that the renovated Almaty landmark will open in time for City Day.

In July 2026, the fountain was already switched on after renovation, but at that time the area around it was still fenced off.

Earlier, Kursiv LifeStyle reported that the upgrade of lighting in the park of the National Academy of Sciences had been completed. Now, in the evening, the fountains and the area around the building are illuminated with multicolored architectural and landscape lighting.
