Since the start of the year, authorities in Almaty's Auezov district have dismantled 192 non-stationary trading points and fully eliminated seven major spontaneous markets, reports infohub.kz.
According to officials, these spots were used for illegal sale of clothing, vegetables, dairy products, and flowers. The work was carried out on the orders of the mayor of Almaty as part of a crackdown on unauthorized trade and compliance with city beautification rules.
The district administration noted that they held educational talks with vendors about complying with the law.
Since the start of the year, police in the Auezov district have filed 698 administrative reports under Article 204 of the Administrative Code of Kazakhstan, which penalizes trading in unauthorized locations. Total fines amount to over 3.4 million tenge.
Additionally, under Article 505 of the same code for violating beautification rules, 1,386 reports were issued, totaling more than 5.3 million tenge.
The district administration emphasized that efforts to curb spontaneous trade are ongoing.
Earlier, it was reported that Almaty residents had asked to remove traders from the health trail (terrenkur).
