A new Eco-Hub has opened in Almaty's Zhetysu district — the city's third site where residents can drop off waste for separate collection. The space opened at the Zhetisu-2 youth community center, according to infohub.kz.
Similar recycling drop-off points previously appeared at 44 Markova Street and at Satbayev University. The new location has 10 containers for separate waste collection.
Residents of the district can drop off plastic, aluminum, paper and other recyclable materials. In addition, the site plans to host workshops, meetings and environmental campaigns, as well as bring together eco-activists and volunteers.
"The new Eco-Hub will become a permanent venue for environmental initiatives, educational events and separate waste collection," the akimat said.
The Eco-Hub accepts various types of recyclables. People can bring plastic bottles and packaging, shampoo and household chemical bottles, bags and stretch film, glass bottles and jars, aluminum and tin cans, cardboard and waste paper. It also accepts blister packs and medicine bottles, batteries, and books in good condition for bookcrossing.
