An environmental campaign titled "Sort Your Waste — Save Nature!" was held in Almaty at the eco-hub of the Zhetysu-2 youth community center. The event took place as part of the nationwide Taza Qazaqstan initiative and aimed to foster an environmental culture among young people and city residents, the website infohub.kz reports.

According to the Almaty city akimat, participants brought their collected household waste, sorted it into special containers and used a reverse vending machine to hand in recyclable materials. Community center staff provided information, explaining the importance of separate waste collection and its subsequent recycling.

Fostering an environmental culture and a responsible attitude toward the environment is one of the key areas of the nationwide Taza Qazaqstan initiative, being implemented on the instructions of President Qasym-Jomart Toqaev. The head of state has repeatedly stressed that cleanliness and a careful attitude toward nature must become not a one-off campaign but an integral part of public culture and the daily life of every citizen.

In Almaty, this work is carried out on a systematic basis. City akim Darhan Satybaldy pays special attention to the improvement of the metropolis, the development of environmental infrastructure and support for youth initiatives aimed at creating a clean and comfortable urban environment. One of the practical tools of this work is the development of environmental spaces at youth community centers.

Recall that the eco-hub at the Zhetysu-2 community center opened on September 10 and became the third such environmental space in Almaty. It has 10 special containers for separate waste collection, including plastic, aluminum, paper and other recyclable materials.

"Our task is to make waste sorting a habitual part of everyday life. We want young people not just to take part in one-off environmental campaigns, but to understand why it is important to treat the environment with care. The eco-hub is open to all residents of the district and is becoming a venue where environmental knowledge can be put into practice right away," said Aibek Berikboluly, head of the Zhetysu-2 community center.

Note that in Almaty, as part of efforts to foster an environmental culture among young people, more than 110 environmental events had previously been organized, reaching over 15,000 people.

Going forward, the eco-hub site will continue to host environmental campaigns, educational meetings and practical events aimed at developing a culture of waste recycling and involving young people in environmental initiatives.
