A nighttime fireworks display in the courtyard of a residential complex in Almaty's Bostandyk district landed a local man in administrative detention, with a court ordering him held for seven days. The news was reported by infohub.kz.
According to NUR.KZ, citing the city police department, residents of the building complained about the noise. The report came in late at night, after which patrol officers arrived at the scene.
"The man who set off the fireworks was identified and detained. Administrative proceedings were opened against him on three counts, including petty hooliganism. By court decision, the man was placed under administrative arrest for seven days," the police statement said.
The police department thanked residents for their active civic stance and timely report.
"It is precisely thanks to such reports that violations can be stopped promptly. Night is a time for silence. Fireworks should not become a cause of disturbance for an entire building. Respect those around you and obey the law," the department added.
It was previously reported that several people in Astana were held accountable for setting off fireworks, two of whom were arrested.
