On May 1, Almaty will launch 60 fountains, reports infohub.kz.
According to the city administration, a total of 66 fountains are under the city's management, of which six are under reconstruction: the "Dandelion," "Swan," and "Tulip" fountains, as well as those in front of the Kazakh National Drama Theater named after M. Auezov, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, and the State Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
As part of the "Almaty — Our Common Home" campaign, preparatory work has been carried out, including cleaning of fountain basins, bottoms, and walls, as well as restoration of granite slabs.
"Specialists painted decorative elements of the fountains, inspected electrical equipment and pumps, as well as engineering networks for electricity, cold water supply, and sewage. With utility providers, they carried out the recommissioning of water supply and electricity systems. During preparatory work, emergency sections were identified; currently, restoration work on water supply and electricity networks is being completed," said the Almaty city administration's press service.
From April 8 to May 8, the "Almaty — Our Common Home" campaign is underway, featuring litter clean-up across the city and in mountainous areas, rivers, and lakes; mass planting of trees, flowers, and shrubs; washing of building facades; and repair and painting of small architectural forms, fences, and children's and sports playgrounds throughout the city.
Earlier it was reported that fountains will also start operating in Astana on May 1, the Day of Unity of the People of Kazakhstan.
