An elderly woman was injured while hiking in the mountains of Almaty. Rescuers evacuated her from an altitude of over two thousand meters, reports infohub.kz.
The incident occurred in the Medeu District. According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the woman, born in 1959, slipped and twisted her ankle while descending a mountain at 2,280 meters above sea level. She could not continue on her own.
Responding rescuers provided first aid and evacuated her from the mountainous area. She was then handed over to a team from the Emergency Ministry's Disaster Medicine Center for transportation to a medical facility.
