Police in Almaty have brought administrative charges against a college graduate who posted a video on social media showing him tearing a diploma, reports infohub.kz.
During social media monitoring, police found a TikTok video that sparked widespread public discussion.
In the footage, a graduate of a private college in Almaty publicly tore what appeared to be a diploma cover after the graduation ceremony.
An investigation confirmed that the original diploma, its supplement, and the official cover issued by the institution were undamaged. A pre-prepared copy of the diploma cover was used for the video.
Despite this, the video spread widely online and generated mixed reactions. The incident prompted a police investigation.
As a result, the video's author was held administratively liable under part 3-1 of Article 456-2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
