Two men have been detained in Almaty's Almaly district for painting graffiti on city property, and a court has sentenced each of them to five days of administrative arrest, the website infohub.kz reports.
According to NUR.KZ, citing the megacity's police department, police in Almaty's Almaly district stopped two cases of damage to city property. Both incidents occurred at almost the same time.
A district police officer detained the first offender on Zhibek Zholy Street. "Almaty resident Maltsev Dmitry Vladimirovich was painting an inscription on a fence right during a patrol. Almost at the same time, another case was recorded on Brusilovsky Street. A 39-year-old man, Abdramanov Zhappar Gaibullayevich, was painting an inscription on the wall of a store. His actions were also stopped by police officers. Administrative protocols were drawn up against both men — for defacing buildings, structures and other objects in public places," the statement said.
Police said the materials were sent to court. Both offenders were found guilty. Each was sentenced to five days of administrative arrest.
"Police continue their work to identify and stop cases of vandalism. Painting inscriptions on someone else's property is not a harmless prank, but an administrative offense for which liability is provided," the police department added.
