Almaty has announced the results of the first stage of the competition for state grants to implement new business ideas. Financial support will be provided to 164 residents of the city belonging to socially vulnerable categories of the population, reports the website infohub.kz.
Applications were accepted from June 24 to July 8, 2026. A total of 377 people applied for state support. Applications were reviewed from July 13 to 21.
The size of one grant is up to 400 MCI, which is equivalent to 1.73 million tenge. These funds are intended for launching and developing entrepreneurial projects.
Among the approved areas are food production, public catering, clothing tailoring, handmade items, car service, beauty industry, furniture production, cleaning and household services. Support was also provided to projects in education, medicine and social services, IT, digital technologies, construction and repair.
Most of the winners represent large families – 103 people will receive grants. Another 28 recipients are persons with special needs, and 27 are raising children with special needs. The winners also included citizens who lost their breadwinner and recipients of targeted social assistance.
