On July 16, Almaty set a new temperature record, with the air heating up to +38°C, surpassing the previous high for this date recorded in 1976, according to infohub.kz.
Daulet Kisebayev, head of the meteorological forecasts department for Almaty and Almaty region, reported that the air temperature in the city reached +38°C. "The previous maximum for July 16 was recorded in 1976, when thermometers reached +36.1 degrees, but the current reading is higher," he said.
Despite the new record for this date, the absolute maximum temperature for July in Almaty remains unchanged. It stands at +43.4°C, recorded in 1983.
