Almaty's heating season begins Friday, October 9, though warmth will reach residents' apartments later. The news comes from infohub.kz.
According to the press service of the megacity's akimat, the early launch of heating was prompted by a sharp drop in air temperature. On the instructions of city akim Darhan Satybaldy, Almaty will begin connecting to central heating on October 9.
"Heat will first be supplied to social facilities — kindergartens, schools and medical institutions. Connection of residential buildings is planned to begin on October 10. After heat is supplied, specialists from the KSK and OSI will adjust the in-building systems — bleeding air from radiators and risers, setting pressure and ensuring even heating of apartments," the statement said.
The akimat added that Almaty Heating Networks LLP has completed preparations for the winter period. An emergency stock of materials and equipment has been assembled to respond quickly to possible faults. During the 2026–2027 heating season, 16 emergency and repair crews will be on duty — a total of 220 specialists and 56 units of equipment.
