A new medical center for women with complicated pregnancies has opened at the City Perinatal Center in Almaty. Expectant mothers will be able to undergo MRI and expert-class ultrasound examinations on an outpatient basis and free of charge under the mandatory social health insurance system, as well as receive consultations from specialized doctors, infohub.kz reports.
According to the city's public health department, referrals to the center are issued by polyclinics at the patient's place of attachment.
"The opening of the center will make specialized care for high-risk pregnant women more accessible at the outpatient stage," Marat Pashimov, head of the department, said at the opening ceremony.
In addition to MRI and ultrasound, patients will be able to undergo colposcopy and cardiotocography. A CT scanner is also planned to be installed at the center this year.
Several specialized doctors will consult patients: obstetrician-gynecologists, a geneticist, an internist, a neurologist, and an ophthalmologist. The main convenience is that all examinations can be done in a single building.
Overall, the launch of the center will help doctors monitor the condition of women with complicated pregnancies more thoroughly, detect any pathologies in time, and treat expectant mothers without mandatory hospitalization.
It is worth noting that this is already the second clinical and diagnostic center for high-risk pregnancies in the metropolis. The first was previously opened at the Center for Perinatology and Pediatric Cardiac Surgery.
