An unusual incident occurred in Almaty: the same car ended up on a specialized impound lot twice in one day, and its owner now faces criminal charges, infohub.kz reports.
According to the Almaty Police Department, the vehicle was placed on the specialized lot due to numerous unpaid fines.
"A few hours later, the owner arrived under the pretext of retrieving documents. Instead, he got behind the wheel and drove off the lot without authorization. Police launched a search for the vehicle. It was located and blocked on Raiymbek Avenue, near Kuderin Street. Then it was towed back to the specialized impound lot," police described the situation.
Three administrative protocols were subsequently drawn up against the driver. In addition, a criminal case was opened over the unauthorized departure. The man was taken to the Zhetysu District Police Department.
Police remind the public: a car being on a specialized lot is not a formality. Driving off its territory without authorization carries legal consequences.
