A video has circulated on social media showing facade lighting on fire at one of the buildings in the Kausar residential complex in Almaty. The akimat's response to the incident was reported by Kursiv LifeStyle, according to infohub.kz.

According to a user on the Threads platform, the substandard lighting was installed on the facade of the high-rise just a year ago. Over that period, it has caught fire three times.

"There have been three fires this year. I wrote on eOtinish, and the response was: 'We will check and fix it.' Last night there was another fire just like it!" the woman said.

The Almaty resident emphasized that the lighting was installed only on the part of the complex's buildings visible from Sayran. However, the perfect photo-ready look it was supposed to create is rarely seen: sometimes it simply does not work. In her post, the user asked for the lighting to be dismantled.

In the comments, the akimat assured that this request would be fulfilled: the lighting will be turned off until all defects are eliminated. The authorities also acknowledged that they were aware of the problem and that the work had initially not been accepted due to installation violations — though that raises the question of why the lighting operated for about a year.

"Court proceedings with the unscrupulous contractor have just concluded in our favor. We are now preparing a lawsuit to oblige the company to completely redo the work and ensure the fire safety of the system," the akimat's response stated.

Earlier, Kursiv LifeStyle reported why shrubs and trees dried up last summer in a new park on the shore of Sayran lake.
