A revamped weekend market will open in Almaty's Kazakhfilm district on September 20, City Day. The site infohub.kz reports on what has changed at the venue and what goods will be available there.
According to the city administration, the 49-are market area has been landscaped and renovated. It now has 112 trading spots: 100 in an open pavilion, seven in an enclosed one, and five more in a so-called food court zone.
Farmers will sell their produce at the open area on weekends. Local producers will be able to trade year-round in the enclosed pavilion.
"The modernization was carried out with private investment. After the opening, the administration of the municipal market and monitoring of compliance with recommended prices will be handled by SPK Almaty JSC," the authority said.
The market will sell meat, eggs, vegetables and fruit, fermented dairy products, sausages, honey and other goods. Products from farms and private households in Almaty and the Almaty Region will be sold without intermediaries.
Recall that in April 2026 the city administration presented a plan under which all weekend markets in Almaty will become full-fledged bazaars.
