On July 29, adverse meteorological conditions are expected in Almaty and four other cities in Kazakhstan, according to Kazhydromet (via infohub.kz).
Forecasters say unfavorable weather conditions (UWC) are predicted in Almaty, and overnight in Astana, Temirtau, Karaganda, and Kostanay.
Specialists explain that UWC occur when calm winds, light breezes, fog, and temperature inversion combine. This causes pollutants to accumulate in the surface layer of the atmosphere, leading to worsening air quality.
Meteorologists warn that during such periods, the risk of negative health impacts increases, especially for people with chronic conditions.
The level of air pollution is influenced by wind speed, precipitation, humidity, and air temperature.
Residents are advised to limit time spent outdoors, especially near roads and other pollution sources. Children and pregnant women are urged to avoid long walks. People with respiratory or cardiovascular diseases, as well as those with allergies, are recommended to keep necessary medications on hand. Experts suggest limiting outdoor physical activity and, if possible, moving workouts indoors.
Earlier, Kursiv reported that on July 29, most of Kazakhstan will experience unstable weather. According to Kazhydromet, the country will see rain and thunderstorms, with hail possible in some areas, while temperatures in several regions could reach +44°C.
