Young people in Almaty are being offered up to 100,000 tenge for a video review of a book. The contest is part of the nationwide "Reading Nation" marathon, reports infohub.kz.

According to the contest rules, participants must record a video review of a chosen work lasting from one to three minutes. The video should reveal the book's main idea, provide at least two examples from the text, and share a personal opinion.

Participants are invited to choose one of four books: "The Scent of Wormwood" by Sayin Muratbekov, "AZ and I" by Olzhas Suleimenov, "The Golden Horde: How the Steppe Empire Changed the World" by Marie Favereau, and "The Investigator" by Arman Almenbet.

To take part, one must register, publish an Instagram post with the book title and the hashtag #oqitynult, and then post the video review with the same hashtag.

The total prize fund is 400,000 tenge. The winner will receive 100,000 tenge, two second-place participants will each get 75,000 tenge, and three more prize-winners will each receive 50,000 tenge.

"Entries will be judged on four criteria: understanding of the content, quality of argumentation, independence of judgment, and logic and clarity of presentation. The maximum score is 100 points," the akimat explained.

Entries are accepted until October 19. From October 20 to 22, a jury will evaluate them, and on October 23 the winners will be announced.
