In Almaty, authorities identified the author of a video showing a man demonstratively displaying a zip bag with an unknown substance in front of police officers, reports infohub.kz.
The Instagram account of the Almaty Police Department explained the consequences of posting the video online, in which the man filmed police officers and a service vehicle while holding a zip bag with a white substance. During the filming, he used profanity.
Police believe the author apparently intended to turn the video into a provocation against law enforcement.
The identity of the video's author was established. He turned out to be a 43-year-old local resident with a prior criminal record. The man was detained and taken to the police station of the Medeu District Police Department. A criminal case was opened on suspicion of a drug-related offense. The suspect was also charged with petty hooliganism. The materials have been sent to court, the Almaty Police Department noted.
Now police will determine the origin, composition, and quantity of the substance shown, as well as check the detainee's possible involvement in drug trafficking.
