Since the beginning of the year, police in the Almaty metro have detained 310 citizens attempting to carry prohibited items, reports the website infohub.kz.

According to Polisia.kz, during inspections at metro entrances, 29 knives, 62 items structurally similar to brass knuckles, and 4 rounds of ammunition were seized from illegal circulation. To ensure passenger safety, 604 CCTV cameras have been installed at stations, some of which are equipped with real-time facial recognition capabilities.

Oral Akhimov, head of the metro police department, urged passengers to follow established rules, not to attempt to bring in prohibited items, and to immediately report any suspicious objects or unlawful activities to police officers or metro staff.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Almaty metro serves between 110,000 and 130,000 passengers daily, so special attention is paid to public order and safety.
