An attack on a child was prevented in Almaty: military personnel who happened to be nearby intervened and detained the attacker, reports infohub.kz.
According to the Ministry of Defense, the incident occurred this morning, August 5, at around 08:00. Four servicemen from the peacekeeping operations center, while en route near Atakent Park, witnessed unlawful actions against a minor.
"An unknown man suddenly attacked the child, punching him in the face. Without losing a second, the servicemen quickly assessed the situation, stopped the unlawful act, subdued and held the suspected offender until police arrived," the ministry said.
After law enforcement arrived, the detained man was handed over to police officers for further investigation.
The boy's family expressed gratitude to the officers for preventing a dangerous situation. In a statement, they said: "When an adult man showed aggression and hit our young son, other children were nearby. They were all very scared. Fortunately, there were military personnel nearby who did not walk past. They immediately intervened, detained the man, called the police, and handed him over to law enforcement. We sincerely thank Lieutenant Colonel Batyr Tuyakov, Major Medet Makhmets, Captain Daniyar Baimuldin, and Captain Asem Abdraimova for their courage, compassion, and readiness to help. Thanks to their decisive actions, the children are safe."
