Latifa is the only and cherished child in her family. From her first days, she was surrounded by love and care. But recently, the family received terrible news — the girl was diagnosed with leukemia, reports infohub.kz.
As the girl's mother, Almaty resident Dilnaz Yusupova, recalls, the pregnancy went well, but the birth was difficult due to a face presentation. Nevertheless, doctors did everything for a successful delivery, and after birth, the baby was taken to intensive care. Then mother and daughter faced recovery and a happy life.
"Latifa's childhood was enviable. An only daughter, granddaughter, and niece. From her first days, she was surrounded by immense love, affection, and care. Despite this, she grew up as a well-mannered and shy girl. On July 30 of this year, our life divided into before and after. With a very low hemoglobin level, we were admitted to the hospital, where after examination she was diagnosed with leukemia — blood cancer. That same day, she received a blood transfusion," the girl's mother said.
On August 4, Latifa and her mother were transferred to the Institute of Pediatrics and Surgery, to the oncohematology department. There, the girl underwent a bone marrow puncture to check the level of blast cells. They also had to wait for the results of diagnostics to determine if the leukemia is mutating. After the puncture, Dilnaz recalls, her daughter had a cervical catheter inserted, which was necessary for administering medications, taking tests, giving platelets, and blood transfusions. Seeing all these procedures and understanding what her daughter was enduring was even more unbearable for Dilnaz than hearing the diagnosis itself.
When the puncture results were ready, Latifa's parents were invited to the doctor's office. The couple hoped that the doctor would say a mistake had been made and the diagnosis was not confirmed. Alas, their hopes were in vain, and the doctor repeated the terrible diagnosis.
"Latifa has acute lymphoblastic leukemia. In the bone marrow, 94% are blast cells — that's a lot. Almost the entire bone marrow is filled with cancer cells. Urgent treatment is needed; there is no time to lose. The doctor explained how the treatment would proceed, but after the first stage of therapy, we want to take our daughter to a clinic abroad for additional examination," Dilnaz noted.
The family has already contacted Turkish clinics, which are ready to accept the child and have sent treatment estimates. Almost all expenses, according to these estimates, amount to thousands of dollars. For parents who are forced to temporarily stop working due to their daughter's illness, these are large sums.
"A long road lies ahead, including chemotherapy, constant check-ups, medications, blood transfusions, travel, and many associated costs. I never thought I would ask for help. But today I am not just asking — I am begging you to help save our daughter, our meaning of life! Help our only child overcome this disease. Help Latifa emerge victorious in this unequal and unfair fight," the mother concluded.
