Almaty's akimat has warned residents of a new traffic pattern on Nauryzbai Batyr Street that will take effect on August 1, reports infohub.kz.
According to the press service of the Almaty akimat, the city continues to improve traffic organization. Starting August 1, on the section of Nauryzbai Batyr Street from Raiymbek Avenue to Abay Avenue, a new traffic scheme will be implemented, providing for the creation of dedicated bicycle infrastructure.
"As part of the work, the dedicated lane for route vehicles will be removed. Bus routes will be rerouted to Zheltoksan Street, allowing for a bike lane on Nauryzbai Batyr Street," the statement said.
The changes are aimed at improving cyclist safety, developing urban cycling infrastructure, and more efficient distribution of traffic flows.
Drivers and other road users are asked to consider the upcoming changes in advance, plan routes according to the new scheme, and comply with traffic signs and markings.
