A former deputy head of one of Almaty's city administration departments has had her sentence commuted, with the remaining time replaced by restriction of freedom, reports infohub.kz.
According to the Committee of the Penitentiary System, the convicted woman was serving a sentence imposed by a court. Later, a court decision replaced the unserved portion of the sentence with restriction of freedom. After her release, she was registered with the probation service. She is obliged to comply with all restrictions, duties, and requirements arising from the court decision, including a ban on leaving Kazakhstan.
The committee added that probation officers conduct continuous monitoring of her compliance with the imposed duties and restrictions, including regular checks and other control measures.
It was previously reported that the official was convicted of embezzling property worth 12 million tenge. In June last year, the court found her guilty and sentenced her to 4 years and 6 months in prison.
