In Almaty's Medeu district, a section of Olimpiyskaya Street has been temporarily closed until September 18 due to emergency repair work on a 220 kV cable power line, infohub.kz reports.
According to the city administration, traffic is restricted near house No. 4A — on the stretch from Tyshkanbayeva Street to Baikonur Street.
The repairs were required after damage to a cable section of power line No. 2363. The energy system is currently operating under a forced open-circuit scheme, which reduces the reliability of power supply to Almaty and the Almaty agglomeration.
To restore the normal operating scheme, specialists from Alatau Zharyk Company JSC are carrying out emergency work directly beneath the roadway.
The work is being done around the clock in compliance with all safety requirements. Once completed, the disrupted landscaping is planned to be restored.
Residents and visitors are asked to take the restrictions into account in advance when planning their routes.
Earlier, Kursiv wrote that from 06:00 on September 13 to 06:00 on September 14, another section in Almaty will be closed — Abay Avenue from Saina Street to B. Momyshuly Street. The restrictions are related to medium road repairs.
