In Almaty, a paid parking lot has been set up on a stretch of road that has not yet been improved, a local resident pointed out in a complaint posted on the social network Threads. The akimat explained when repair work there will be completed, the website infohub.kz reports.

The parking lot in question is at the intersection of Tole Bi and Zhumalieva streets. The woman stressed that she is not opposed to paid parking, but believes the quality of such spaces should match the price of the service.

"I am absolutely not against paid parking, but on one condition: everything should be organized properly, with comfort for residents and with proper improvement of the territory. And what do we see here? The parking spaces have still not been brought into proper condition, there are no improvements, yet they managed to set up a paid parking lot!" the author of the post wrote.

She also questioned why the area could not first be improved and the parking spaces made convenient for drivers, and only then have payment introduced. "Paid parking is not just markings and a sign," the Almaty resident added.

The akimat responded to the complaint. "At the address of Tole Bi Street and Zhumalieva Street, work is currently being completed to put the parking zone in order. At the moment, curb alignment is under way, and local repairs to the asphalt surface will also be carried out. These works are planned to be completed by October 29. As for the sequence: the organization of a unified parking space is being implemented in stages," the statement said.
