Almaty currently has more than 17,000 municipal parking spaces, with plans to increase that number to 25,000. The news was reported by infohub.kz.

According to data from the municipal state enterprise Almaty Parking, 15,344 car owners in the city use benefits at municipal paid parking lots.

"The city continues work to improve the municipal paid parking system while taking into account the interests of various categories of residents. One of the priority areas will remain ensuring that parking infrastructure is accessible to socially vulnerable groups and other citizens entitled to benefits," the statement said.

Benefits are provided to people with disabilities in groups I and II, World War II veterans, large families, and members of families affected by the consequences of nuclear testing at the Semipalatinsk test site. They also extend to owners of electric vehicles and special-purpose transport.

"Currently, the city has more than 17,000 municipal parking spaces. In the future, their number is planned to be increased to 25,000. At the same time, Almaty intends to simplify the processing of benefit permits and develop digital services so that car owners can receive the necessary services with less time spent," the enterprise added.

Almaty Parking notes that the expansion of the parking network will be accompanied by improved service quality and greater accessibility of parking for different categories of residents.

It was previously reported that new tariffs for municipal paid parking took effect in Almaty on October 4, differentiated depending on traffic load and demand for parking space.
