Residents of the Almaly district in Almaty have encountered an unusual and unpleasant situation: their elderly neighbor, according to locals, keeps more than twenty dogs in her apartment, leading to constant flooding and unsanitary conditions, reports infohub.kz.
According to angry residents of the high-rise, the elderly woman named Tanya has been picking up stray dogs from the street and bringing them home for several years. Some puppies have been born in the apartment. Due to her advanced age, the pensioner is unable to walk all the animals, so the dogs relieve themselves right on the floor.
One neighbor, Khamid Baisov, who lives on the floor below, said that over the past year his apartment has been flooded with sewage several times. "Animal urine, feces—it all drips onto the floor. Puddles form here. We started a full renovation because it's impossible; the smell has already set in. In a year, what the previous owners did in terms of renovation has all gone to waste," he shared.
In addition, neighbors complain that the pensioner lets the dogs out for unsupervised walks. "She just opens the door: the dogs run out at full speed. When a dog runs at full speed from the second floor without stopping, it knocks everything over. Once, a woman was knocked down right before my eyes. They run and bark. And until you open the door for them, they bark at you and the door," said resident Anna Ogai.
The Almaty residents also claim that their neighbor throws animal feces out of the windows, and sometimes dog carcasses into the trash. In response to neighbors' remarks, the pensioner reacts aggressively, insulting them. It is reported that the elderly woman is registered with a mental health center and has already been brought to administrative responsibility.
The police of the Almaly district confirmed that an investigation is being conducted into this fact. "Regarding this fact, officers of the Almaly district police department are conducting an investigation. Interested state bodies and services have been involved in the investigation. Based on the results, appropriate measures will be taken within the framework of current legislation," said Saltanat Azirbek, official representative of the Almaty Police Department.
