Almaty patrol police chased a Toyota Camry driver who refused to stop, according to infohub.kz.
The Almaty Police Department said on its Instagram account that around 2 a.m., a patrol crew ordered the driver of a Toyota Camry to stop at the intersection of Tole Bi Avenue and Auezov Street. The man ignored the order and tried to flee, prompting a pursuit.
"The driver turned into a dead-end road, abandoned the car and tried to escape on foot. Police quickly blocked and detained him. The reason for his behavior became clear during a medical examination: the man had been driving under the influence of alcohol. The test established a moderate degree of intoxication," police said.
The driver is known to have been subject to measures prescribed by law.
The Almaty Police Department added that over the past two days, 31 drivers have been detained in the city for driving under the influence.
