Police in Almaty's Almaly district detained two men and seized packets containing an unknown substance, electronic scales and about 240 grams of powder, the website infohub.kz reports.
According to NUR.KZ, citing the city police department, a man was first detained in Almaly district, where about 240 grams of a powdery substance were found in his apartment.
"Also found there were 50 prepared packets, electronic scales, electrical tape in various colors and gloves — a kit that investigators believe could have been used to package the banned substance," the statement said.
A few days later, police detained another suspect in the same district.
"He was found with 48 packets containing a white substance. The seized items have been sent for examination. Criminal cases have been opened in both instances. The suspects have been arrested. Investigators are establishing the origin of the substances and all the circumstances of the incident," police added.
Earlier it was reported that a man was detained in Almaty with 53 suspicious packets found in his pockets during a search. A criminal case was opened.
