Almaty police are searching for a man who, according to preliminary information, may have attacked a woman he did not know, reports infohub.kz.
A video was posted on the Instagram account Egovpress showing a man grabbing a woman and falling with her to the floor, after which bystanders intervened.
"Police in Almaty are looking for an unidentified man who attacked a woman he did not know. The victim is asking anyone who knows this man to report his details to the police," the video's description says.
A NUR.KZ correspondent sent a request to the press service of the Almaty Police Department.
"Regarding the video recording showing the use of physical force against a woman, the Auezov District Police Department is conducting an investigation. The woman's identity has been established; she is currently at the police station giving testimony. She had not previously filed a complaint with the police about this incident. The whereabouts of the man shown in the video are currently being established," the police department replied.
Police assured that the man's actions will be given a firm legal assessment and that he will be held accountable in accordance with the established legal procedure.
