A complaint from an Almaty resident accusing police officers of inaction after a verbal dispute at one of the city's markets has spread on social media. According to the author of the post on Threads, her husband called the police after he was insulted and subjected to obscene language, the website infohub.kz reports.
"Police officers arrived at the scene and accepted the statement. But instead of looking into the situation and taking appropriate measures, the man who insulted my husband was simply released. (...) In the end, the man who had been insulting people calmly shook hands with the police officers and walked away," the post says.
In comments under the post, the Almaty Police Department confirmed that on September 12 a report of a conflict was received on the 102 hotline. Upon arrival, officers determined that a verbal altercation had occurred between citizens, during which one of those involved used obscene language and behaved aggressively.
"On this fact, district police inspectors drew up an administrative protocol against the offender under Article 434 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Republic of Kazakhstan, 'Petty Hooliganism.' The materials have been sent to court for a procedural decision," police said.
